scanRoo Privacy Policy

scanRoo is a document scanner for iPhone and iPad, distributed by East Coast Science, LLC. This policy outlines data privacy practices for scanRoo.

Summary

scanRoo does not collect personal data. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking. East Coast Science does not receive, sell, or share your scans or any information about how you use the app.

On-Device Scanning & Text Recognition

Document detection, edge cleanup, image enhancement, OCR text recognition and PDF creation all run on your device. Your scans, recognized text and documents are stored on your device and are not uploaded to East Coast Science or to any third party.

Camera & Photo Library

scanRoo uses the camera only when you start a scan. If you choose to import an image, scanRoo reads only the images you select. If you choose to save a scan to Photos, scanRoo adds that scan to your Photo Library. scanRoo does not use your location or Bluetooth; any related permission text comes from a shared system library and scanRoo does not collect that data.

Sharing & Export

Documents leave scanRoo only when you choose to export or share them, for example to the Files app or through the iOS share sheet. The destination you pick (such as another app or a cloud storage provider) handles that copy under its own privacy policy.

iCloud

This version of scanRoo does not sync scans to iCloud; scans stay on your device. If optional iCloud sync is offered in a future version, it will store your data in your own private iCloud account, which East Coast Science cannot access, and this policy will be updated before that feature ships.

Children, Changes & Support Communications

scanRoo is not directed at children and collects no personal data from anyone. If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. If you email support, your address and message are shared with the support mailbox and used only to answer your request.

Source reviewed: scanRoo's Apps/Mobile/PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy (no tracking, no collected data types); project.yml permission strings; Apps/Mobile/RScanMobileApp.swift (CloudKit sync disabled in this build).
