xsite is a native Mac app for website performance analysis and controlled remediation. It brings delivery-stack discovery, performance findings, proposed changes, and measurement history into one workspace—so you can move from an observed problem to a reviewed action with the evidence alongside it.

From measurement to a reviewed change

Start with a website URL. xsite inspects its delivery environment, gathers available lab and native measurements, and organizes findings by severity and the layer where a fix belongs. Explore the evidence, preview an applicable change, then re-measure and compare saved runs.

The app works without an xsite account or a required cloud service. Native probes, local history, and reports remain useful without provider credentials. Optional engines and connected providers add capabilities when available; missing measurements remain visible as gaps.

Features

• See the delivery environment. Inspect observed response headers, compression, caching, anonymous cookie names, protocols, DNS, registrar information, and third-party resources.
• Measure with context. Use locally installed Lighthouse for repeated mobile and desktop lab runs. View medians and min–max spreads, with changes inside the earlier spread identified as noise. Optional PageSpeed Insights integration adds available CrUX field percentiles and reports when real-user data is unavailable.
• Explore site inventory. A native, robots-aware crawler records observed pages, assets, transfer bytes, broken links, redirects, and exclusions. Its default limit is 5,000 pages, with bounded requests and explicit gaps for content it cannot measure.
• Review proposed fixes. The prototype includes a catalog for selected Cloudflare settings and cache rules, origin cache headers, metadata, sitemaps, script loading, bounded critical CSS, WordPress caching, and local broken-link reports. Applicability depends on the site, evidence, and available connection.
• Keep control of writes. Site changes begin as dry runs. Supported live actions require explicit approval tied to the reviewed diff, successful backups, and verification, with rollback on detected regression and a local audit record.
• Keep a numbered history. Compare runs and pin baselines. Export Markdown, HTML, CSV, PDF, and Excel reports, including inventory details.
• Use the interface that suits the work. A native workspace with light, dark, and system appearance is complemented by a command-line interface, MCP tools, and App Intents. MCP exposes measurement, local reads, and dry-run plans; Siri voice invocation remains unverified.

Local monitoring preview

Local monitoring is implemented in the prototype: scheduled probes and full analyses, baseline drift, site and fleet status views, and deduplicated alerts. Automated scheduling, notification delivery, and the newer monitoring views still require runtime acceptance. This is a preview capability, not a claim of a production monitoring service.

Platforms and requirements

xsite targets macOS 26 or later and builds for Apple Silicon and Intel. The current build contains both architectures; Intel runtime acceptance is still pending.

Native probes and inventory are built in. Lighthouse requires a locally installed Lighthouse engine and Chrome; the optional crawlie engine adds crawl checks. xsite discovers engines already on disk and does not download them at runtime. PageSpeed Insights requires an optional API key. Provider changes require an appropriate configured and tested connection. Credentials are stored in macOS Keychain.

Status and availability

Prototype · version 0.1.0. Analysis, reporting, local history, and the guarded remediation pipeline are implemented. Production distribution, Developer ID signing and notarization, live-site remediation acceptance, and some GUI and monitoring acceptance checks remain pending. A public release date and download availability have not yet been announced.

Critical-CSS automation is deliberately bounded and can refuse a page that needs broader extraction or visual review. FTP, password-based SSH/SFTP, broader provider writes, and renderer-assisted CSS extraction are Planned. Optional self-hosted remote monitoring is Planned.
